What To Wear

The important thing is to bring your personality into the photo. Decide what you want to capture in this photo session, are you going to classic, modern, or a little edgy? It is always good to wear clothess that have texture, such as woven fabrics. Try to dress according to the season, If it's Summer wear bright rich colors and during the Fall wear autumn colors. Feel free to bring extra clothing with you, so that we can help you find the perfect lookay and feel for your family.

Helpful Hints

Choose bright bold colors that compliment your eye color.

Layers and Texture are very important to help bring out the photograph, think scarves, jackets, hats, ties, denim, or knits. It can also help to wear long sleeves under short sleeves, or a long sleeve under a button up with the sleeves rolled up. For girls, wear leggings under skirts/dresses. For shoes wear something fun like tall boots or sassy heels.

If you are not comfortable in your photo, it will show. Wear something that you feel great in, something that will turn heads. If you have that blazer that fits just right, wear it. If you have a dress that you know turns heads, just think how great it will lookay in the photograph.

It is important to wear clothes that fit you well, not too tight nor too loose. You want the clothes to hang on the body well without folds and creases. Also be prepared for full body shots, make sure your socks and shoes match what you are wearing. Going barefoot is also okay if the weather is right.

Don't wear clothes with logos, or bold patterns. Also stay away from shirts that have characters on them. These are sometimes great in person, but keep your photos clean and let the focus be on your great smile.

Children session

When dressing your children, think cheerful and dress them in something that is fun. Let them wear something that matches their personality, and add some layers and texture. Bring along their favorite stuffed animal or things that are important to them.

Many times older children are not comfortable if they are forced to wear formal dress, and this can show up in the photos. So if this is something that you plan on doing, bring some casual clothes as a second outfit.

Families & Couples

You want to coordinate but not match, that is the secret. Don't over-match! The group does not have to all wear the same color t-shirt or matching khakis. Mix it up and have fun with it, while showing a little of each person's own personality. It is also very important that everyone dress on the same level of formality.

Newborn

Trying to decide how to dress your newborn? The best thing to do is have them naked or just in a diaper. Ideally you want to capture your newborns small fingers and toes, bellies, and bums. If you have props that you want to include in the photo shoot, bring them along. Some props that have been known to work well are hats, baskets, bowls, etc.
